DIY Keratin Treatment?!

Hi everyone,
So today i'm doing a review about the Organix Ever Straight Brazilian Keratin Therapy 30 Day Smoothing Treatment. This is basically a do it yourself formaldehyde-free keratin treatment. This should eliminate up to 95% of the frizz and curl! Doesn't that sound amazing? And guess what, it's also very affordable! :). Sounds like heaven, right?

So... how does this product work?

Step 1: Wash your hair with the Pre-Shampoo(this is included in the package)
Step 2: Towel dry and comb your hair. Make sure that your hair is 80% dry.
Step 3: Shake bottle very well and apply the treatment to small sections. Do not over saturate.
Step 4: Comb the treatment through your hair.
Step 5: Let the treatment sit on your hair for 30 minutes.
Step 6: Blow dry your hair(use a brush to pull your hair straight.) Make sure that your hair is 100% dry after you blow dried your hair.
Step 7: Flat iron your hair on high heat(230 °C). Don't worry, there's a thermal heat protection in the treatment to protect your hair from overheating.
Step 8: Leave the treatment in your hair for 48 hours. In the meantime do not wet your hair, bend your hair, tuck your hair behind your ears or anything like that.. Just leave your hair down.
Step 9: Wash & condition your hair with a sulfate free and sodium chloride free shampoo & conditioner.

Okay, let's start from the very beginning. As you can tell there's a before and after photo of my hair. My hair is very curly and very frizzy. I just really wanted to get rid of the frizz. This product definitely helped me with that. My hair is so much less frizzier! That's definitely a pro! Is my hair less curlier? Not really. There's just a slight change, but for the most part my hair is still curly. Do i recommend this product? Yes and no..


Pro's:
- Less frizz.
- It softens the hair.
- It nourishes the hair.

Cons:
- Your hair can feel quite greasy after you flat iron your hair.
- It's also a bit sticky.
- It definitely doesn't straighten your hair or anything like that.
- This whole process is very time consuming.

So.. Am i going to buy this product again? Maybe. It definitely makes my hair less frizzier, but am i willing to do this whole process every month? I'm not sure about that..

So i recently did a DIY - Keratin treatment which i'm going to do a review about another time. Anyway this article is about the keratin treatment and what it is.. Enjoy!

• What Is Keratin? It's a protein that's naturally in your hair.
• How It Works: A stylist applies a keratin hair-straightening product to your hair and then uses the heat of a flat iron to seal it in. The process takes about 90 minutes or longer, depending on your hair's length. Salon keratin products include Keratin Complex Smoothing Therapy by Coppola, Brazilian Keratin Treatment, the Brazilian Blowout, and Brazilian Hair Straightening. 
• Time-Saving Tresses: If you usually style your hair straight, a keratin hair-straightening treatment could shorten your blow-dry time by 40% to 60%, says hair stylist Henri Borday of New York's Mizu salon and corporate educator for Global Keratin.
• Farewell, Frizz: You can forget about frizzy hair after treatment. "You could walk out in moist or light rain and your hair won’t change," Borday says.
• Wait Before You Wash: You shouldn't wash your hair for three or four days after getting the treatment. That's because the solution takes time to work, he says.
• Upkeep: After you get a keratin hair treatment, and after the don't-wash waiting period, you should use sodium-sulfate-free shampoo to help maintain the treatment.
• How Long It Lasts: Expect the results to last for 1/2 months
• WATCH OUT FOR: FORMALDEHYDE:  In some keratin treatments there is formaldehyde in it. This can cause cancer unless it's a little bit. Something like 0.2 %. Most keratin treatments with formaldehyde use formaldehyde of 7% and even more! Really watch out and do your research!

Also a lot of people say the keratin treatment gives you smoother, straighter hair but NOT pin straight hair. This is NOT a relaxer.

Does it really work? It might. I tried out the Organix Ever Straight 30 day smoothing treatment which i'm going to do a review about soon. It really depends on your hair and on the keratin brand. Most keratin treatments in the salon are like 200 euro and sometimes even more. The DIY - Organix ever straight 30 day smoothing treatment was less than 30 euro. This is a really good prize, but the downside is that you have to do it by yourself. So.. Is the keratin treatment worth all the money and patience? I'm not sure. It really does depends on you.
